Canada eTA application guides

Uruguay is in Canada's select visa-required-country eTA program. This does not make every Uruguayan traveller automatically eligible for an eTA.

Canada requires all three additional conditions to be met. If a traveller does not meet them, a visitor visa is generally required.

This conditional eTA route is for flying to Canada or transiting through a Canadian airport. Travellers arriving by car, bus, train, boat or cruise ship generally still need a visitor visa.

If eligible for the eTA route, the official Government of Canada eTA application fee is currently CAN$7.

Conditional eTA eligibility — all requirements must be met

  1. You held a Canadian visitor visa in the past 10 years, or currently hold a valid U.S. nonimmigrant visa on the day you apply.
  2. You are travelling for a short temporary stay, normally up to 6 months.
  3. You are flying to or transiting through a Canadian airport using a qualifying Uruguay passport.
