What Dutch travellers should check first

    Air travel

Eligible Dutch passport holders generally need an eTA to fly to Canada or transit through a Canadian airport unless another status or exemption applies.

    Passport linked

An approved eTA is electronically linked to the passport used for the application. A replacement passport can require a new eTA.

    Official fee

The Government of Canada currently states that the eTA application fee is CAN$7.

    Country-specific passport note

Dutch passport holders should check whether the itinerary includes a flight to Canada or an airport transit, because that is where the eTA requirement generally applies. A replaced or renewed passport requires a new eTA because the authorization is linked to the passport used to apply.

    Optional private assistance

Use EstaEta if you want a guided application workflow

EstaEta provides factual intake, save/resume, permitted administrative completeness checks, customer support and regulated professional review where required. EstaEta does not issue the eTA; Canadian authorities make the government decision.

EstaEta private service fee: US$49.95 per applicant
Official Government of Canada eTA fee: CAN$7, separate

Do Dutch citizens need a Canada eTA?

A qualifying Dutch passport holder flying to Canada or transiting through a Canadian airport generally needs an eTA unless another status or exemption applies. Check the current Government of Canada rule for your exact passport and circumstances.

Do Dutch citizens need an eTA when arriving by land or sea?

Canada says citizens of eTA-required countries generally do not need an eTA when arriving by car, bus, train or boat, including a cruise ship. Other entry requirements still apply.

How much is the official Canada eTA fee?

The Government of Canada currently charges CAN$7 for an eTA application. EstaEta's optional private service fee is separate.

How long can a Canada eTA remain valid?

Canada says an eTA can be valid for up to five years or until the passport linked to it expires, whichever comes first. A new passport requires a new eTA.

Does an eTA guarantee entry to Canada?

No. Canadian authorities decide the application and admission to Canada. An eTA is a travel authorization, not a guarantee of entry.
